Tell us a bit about yourself.
A proud mother and a trained Montessori coach who balances life and aspiring to make a big difference to the world of craft. Self-thought Independent Creative Artist passionate about doing creative art works focused in Designing Unique Handcrafted invitations and customized Gift paintings which are 100% handmade, recyclable with environmental-friendly materials. Though! An Engineer, my passion has become my full time profession.
How did you begin Scraft and how has it evolved?
I am a passionate artisan all my life and someone who enjoys bringing life to any paper form. Scraft was started to provide helping hands for couples to showcase their personal touch. Indeed! Life’s accomplishment is to have a momentous wedding. To begin, I had dedicated lot of time, effort and creativity in bring the best incredibly unique Hand-Crafted Invites which are an expression of style, luxury and excellence. Slowly we evolved to focuses on creating aesthetically-pleasing art with biodegradable materials that is both socioeconomic and appealing to leave an everlasting impression.
Why is making so important to you?
As an Creative Artist I truly believe the relevance of beauty in art without negotiating the very basis of humanity. Eco-friendly initiatives were a necessity, so started exploring options to keep art and craft as close to nature without use of non-degradable and harmful dyes that may cause mayhem. As part of this very serious motive, started making handmade Wedding/Occasion invites using recycled paper & plant-seed paper. Just to show the world that creativity is best suited for handmade and to restore a greener planet for generations to come.
Your work space.
Began to have my dreams shaped over a study table, moving on to our dining table for space, slowly encroached and now quietly upgraded my husband’s home office to a compact but well-established personal studio.
Your favorite work tool.
A German made Vintage super sharp Palm Scissor is my all-time favorite tool, still look forward to the shelves for manual dye cutters, stamps, stencils, distress inks, paper, canvases, clothes, seeds for creative inspiration.
What is currently on your work table?
Multitasking on occasion cards. My table is chaotic.
What is your personal favorite pick from your Scraft right now? And why?
Most invites end up in the trash and that’s why I started the concept of promoting biodegradable seed papers. So, when the invites are thrown, it can potentially grow into a new life. GERMINATING LOVE is a concept close to my heart. Imagine 100 invites giving birth to 100 new plants on our land? That’s the amount of goodness every celebration should begin. To accomplish the exact need and idea of my shoppers this service is customized and entirely handmade, which is very rare but is the best possible form of concept designed craft-work known.
What are your displaying at the By Hand, From The Heart.
Display of themed handmade Eco-friendly wedding invites. Floral invites for the nature-loving couple. Whether its a traditional mandapam wedding or by the beach, Scraft has it all from hearts and flowers to abstract acrylic art and quirky Tamil film references depending on your wedding theme.
