Tell us a bit about yourself

Bhavya Ramesh @bhavyarameshjewelry is bohemian and a naturalist before adding any other profession to her. Jewellery designing was an idea that sparked out of sheer passion for expression. Her designs are majorly influenced by the Banjara culture and thoroughly encapsulates her thoughts and beliefs that has helped her embark this journey. She draws her inspiration from tribal/ethnic, rock n roll cultures and her collection is carefully curated to embrace gypsy souls and free spirits.

How did you begin your label and how has it evolved over the years?

I’m a self taught jewellery designer and I hail from an Engineering background. Over the years, I’ve developed a love for culture, colour and life that sparks out from jewellery. I have always been intrigued by the designs and colours used to create clothes and jewellery and I’ve always wanted to know the history behind these stunning designs. So, initially I travelled to remote parts of India and collected jewellery from different tribes and sold them. Eventually, I realised that I hold a taste for contemporary jewellery influenced by Banjara culture. Learnt that jewellery is beyond just ornamentation, it’s symbolic and a form of expression. And thus embarked my journey into designing my own jewellery.

Why is making so important to you?

Designing jewellery is a channel through which I express myself and my beliefs. Making is the only way through which this can be achieved.

Your work space.

My work space is my very own room which has all elements associated to me as a person.

Describe your artistic process.

I draw inspiration from almost everything and usually takes place while I’m travelling. I always carry my sketchbook with me and sketch out the basic idea. The meticulous designing and adding details usually is carried out on my worktable. I usually like to play with structures and shapes. But I feel the most phenomenal transformation happens when the design evolves from a sketch to a finished product. This is usually carried out at the workshop.

What is currently on your work table?

Flower bowl, Plants, Sketch book, Pens and Jewellery.

What is your personal favorite pick from your label right now? And why?

My all time favourite pick is the Third Eye Earring which symbolises a state of enlightenment or evocation of mental images having deeply personal or spiritual significance.

What are your displaying at the By Hand, From The Heart?

I’m displaying a set of Earrings, Rings, Ear Clips, chokers, and Wrist wear.
