About yourself.
Crafts have always been an integral part of my life. As a young girl, my grandmother taught me weaving. I created trinkets and jewelry out of natural fiber, wool and stones. However, it was only much later I realized that I could carve a career out of this.
I graduated in Computer Science and did Masters in Business Administration. After spending seemingly a lifetime in corporate jobs, I took a sabbatical for 2 years to travel and perhaps spend some time studying jewelry making. I, eventually, never returned to my job and started the brand in 2010.
What is your personal favorite pick from your Benaazir right now? And why?
It is a tough choice for a maker to pick a favorite. Right now, it is our dome ring. We have used old techniques to create this absolutely quirky and fun ring. I think it is a perfect balance of a statement piece and minimalistic style
What are you displaying at the By Hand, From The Heart.

Any design story you would like to share.
We created our nosepin range is a whim. There were so many nosepin designs in the market – they were either imitations of older designs or impractical. We challenged ourselves to come up with designs that are not only original, but one that is relevant and functional. We were pleasantly surprised by the response these pieces received.
Your favorite tools.
The fretwork blade no doubt. The things we can create with the blade is infinite.
Handmade in India / Make in India – what does this mean to you?
We have such a rich culture of art, craft and design in India. Our brand was created with the idea to stay true to this identity whilst keeping in mind the current narratives.
