On the blog today we feature Artist Sujith of BHAVM MURALS, Wayanad. The team shares in brief about the traditional mural artisan group.
A little bit about the organisation.
BHAVM MURALS, a traditional mural artisan group from Wayanad was started by Sujith and his wife Surya in the year 2005.

From the two of them the organisation has grown into a 18 members group, out of which 15 are women. He had trained all the 18 of them to paint murals. He is happy that he is able to support few families particularly women as it is very difficult for women to find a job in rural area.It is run as two units,one in Kalpetta which focuses on paintings on canvas, bamboo, jewellery and other forms is taken care by Sujith and the other unit which specialises on fabric is taken care of by Surya. They have improvised the chuvarchithiram which was earlier done only on the walls of the temples and churches into various art forms.
What will Bhavm Murals display at the By Hand, From The Heart.
Their specialty being bamboo murals, till date. Those kind of elephant bamboo grows majorly in Wayanad. Paintings on canvas, bamboo murals, wooden chest, hand painted lamp shades, wooden and bamboo jewellery will be displayed at BY HAND FROM THE HEART.
