Tell us a bit about you and your design venture.
Being born and brought up in Bihar, I have a strong connect with rural India and the related crafts. Design has always come naturally to me,working in the crafts sector I am always working to connect crafts to contemporary taste and needs. At Studio Moya, we are trying to build a lifestyle approach to crafts, One craft diversified into multiple unique products. Every time a customer walks in he should be able to see something new. I don’t want the customer to buy every piece but they should be able to see the cohesion. A truly sustainable approach at both the maker and the buyer end.
What are your displaying at the By Hand, From The Heart Makers Market in Coimbatore.
We will be showcasing our classic collection of leather hand-painted bags, accessories and decor products with a lot of updated details, leather choices and design options. We would also be presenting a sneak peek into our upcoming new collection of bags and accessories which we are very excited about! This collection would be available on pre order for the Coimbatore edition.
You have showcased with By Hand, From The Heart in Chennai; what has been your experience.
BHFTH has been one of the best platforms to showcase the work we do. The clientele that comes is very well versed with the Indian craft forms and understands what goes in making a handcrafted design. It is always great to exhibit in a place where people value the work we do. Chennai has been one such place for us every time!
Why is it important to showcase offline in spite of a strong digital platform presence?
Having said that technology is crucial, I still believe in touch, feel and experience when I buy anything and would imagine my clients or the customer group we cater to, would too. By showcasing offline through the right platforms, like By Hand From The Heart we are also able to reach out to a great audience where they can experience our products and we also get to know what the consumer is actually looking for.
