We chat up with Founder & Designer, Neha Murthy of Pachisi in Chennai; Neha had started Pachisi, 3 years ago, to create fabric based ancient board games and has recently ventured into felt based decor and toy accessories. Let’s get to know more about her new line up of felt and fabric based products & more. Here’s her story.
A bit about yourself. How would you describe what you do?
I am Neha, founder of Pachisi. Pachisi is a brand that creates ancient board games on fabric. I started this venture nearly two years back with an aim to revive old games and encourage people to play them. Pachisi was actually my final year project in college. It was during this period that I realised that many people were not aware of old Indian games. Post college, I took this up as a full-time job to design and develop board games on fabric that are visually attractive.
How has Pachisi evolved over the years.
Pachisi is a 3-year-old brand that started off by creating board games on fabric. Initially, the brand had been working towards introducing various ancient board games with a focus on making them unique in terms of design and presentation. We built a brand that believed in minimal waste and endorsed using non-toxic materials.
Slowly, in the last one year, Pachisi has experimented with felt fabric and we have gone on to introduce various felt based products such nursery mobiles, various felt decor products, toys and accessories. The brand has ventured into a new product range for an entirely different age group. Over the years, I have explored, made mistakes and re-learned a few things and it has been an amazing journey so far.
Why is making important to you?
There is so much joy and satisfaction to see an end product of your design. I love every bit of what I do at Pachisi, right from designing and developing the product to packaging them.
What are your displaying at the By Hand, From The Heart.
It is my first time in Coimbatore and really excited to showcase the fabric board games.
