Today on the blog we feature Bharathi & Sudha, the founders of Fruits and Herbs, a Chennai based Skin and Hair Care brand. Let’s find out about their venture, inspirations and their line up of fresh and small batches of feel-good all natural and handcrafted skin and body care products at the February event here in Chennai.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Bharathi an entrepreneur managing my own businesses as well as constantly striving to strike a balance between that and my household responsibilities like every other modern, working woman. I primarily work full time in my main business, a customs house agency and of course, manage Fruits and Herbs, which I run out of my house.
I have always sworn by natural products and eventually decided to pursue my love for them by making my products accessible to all. My daughter is my inspiration and my go-to person for all my creative needs, she gives me great insight into what it is the present generation needs.
I roped in my sister, Sudha to help me with Fruits and Herbs. She’s a house wife settled right here in Chennai and is an organic junkie. Sudha constantly comes up with products and product flavours that strike a chord with the younger generation. Sudha, a mom of two herself, is a strong advocate for natural and organic products, constantly encouraging those around her to make the healthier, safer switch.
Were you always interested in beauty care?
Very much so. I grew up using natural products and didn’t dare to use anything else on my skin. People have constantly complimented me on my skin and maintaining healthy younger looking skin has always been a priority for me. Initially, it started off with me making products that my daughter could use and then eventually branched out and made it accessible to all once I received more encouragement and positive reviews.
About your venture.
Fruits and Herbs is an authentic, natural skin and hair care brand that is made traditionally using natural ingredients adhering to the highest standards of purity and quality. Our products are 100 % natural, encompassing and refined. Fruits and Herbs makes products that are truly good for the body and skin because it is made with utmost care, right at home.
Traditional care, that we have often replaced for quicker but harmful solutions, is making a comeback and we, at Fruits and Herbs want to give the body the care it truly deserves.
How would you describe your brand’s aesthetics
We are a homemade, natural skin and hair care brand and our aesthetics complement the same starting from our brand name and logo. Fruits and Herbs denotes that we produce only natural products, the logo is designed to convey the main message of homemade (with the roof) and natural elements (with the fruits and herbs). We’ve adopted the same approach right from the look and feel of the products to the packaging. While we have retained the natural colours of our products, it is packaged in rustic elements to perfectly complement each other and represent the brand.
What do you hope people think when they think of your brand?
We hope that we resonate with everything that is natural, homemade and pure. We want to be the go-to solution for skin and hair care related problems and effectively help solve them as well. We have preserved traditional care and are passing on the goodness of it to all, we want people to know that all our products are tried and tested by generations together.
What inspires you today?
My daughter is my inspiration. Everything I make, I make for her. She constantly ropes me in on what the current rage in the market is and what the younger generation is buying. We then put our heads together to come up with natural alternatives for the same. It makes me feel safe and satisfied to watch people of her generation voluntarily choose safer options and encourage home-made businesses. Gives me hope for a better world to come.
