A run a small home-run studio in the heart of Mylapore. Trained in Finance but a deep passion for Fine Arts and my eventual choice of career. Brought up across Pan India which I think reflects in my work and personality.
About your design venture.
A true blue Tamilian who could only relate to “manja pai” when spoken of fabric bags. that had to change and that’s how Madras Motifs came about. when I started out, there was a dearth for good fabric bags in terms of design, construction and quality. A lot of study, R&D, trials and errors later we are now able to bring the kind of work that I am proud to be associated with. a typical MM tote consists anywhere from 35-40 pieces and components! Lot of detailing, lot of structure (that was previously only associated to leather) and little bit of drama and some madness is the recipe for a Madras Motifs Bag.

The picture in feature shows the first day I opened my small studio/work-space. Ever since after that I haven’t dared to take a pic of it!
What are your displaying at the By Hand, From The Heart.
We are displaying my usual bestsellers – totes and hobos. But we also have lots and lots and lots of organisers; you will see!
Your experience at the By Hand, From The Heart as a maker and as a shopper.
By Hand From The Heart is one of the best shows I have attended both as a maker and a shopper. I think I have attended almost every edition of theirs. I have seen it grow right from the basement days at Ispahani Center right up to now at The Crowne Plaza, and wow what an organic growth. I love how they pay attention to every detail and every vendor.
