About the organisation.

Spirit of the Earth is committed to increasing positive social impact, reducing carbon footprints and protecting the earth’s resources. Our immersion centre operates as a non-profit outlet that sells organic artisanal heritage rice cultivated at our 40-acre farm in Manjakkudi, Tamil Nadu. We also retail the carefully hand-crafted lifestyle products made by differently-abled adults living in AIM for Seva’s Krupa Home. In parallel, our interactive workshops, events and discussions provide experiential opportunities that encourage people to adopt conscious living and through all this we believe we can create awareness and motivate consumers to become contributors.

And how has Spirit of the Earth evolved over the months

Well, we launched Spirit of the Earth in July 2017 – the aim of this project is to increase positive social impact, reduce carbon footprints and protect the earth’s resources.

The immersion centre operates as a non-profit outlet that sells organic artisanal heritage rice cultivated at our 40- acre farm in Manjakkudi, Tamil Nadu. Rich in nutrients, these organically grown grains are pesticide-free and also in turn protect our soil.

We look out for pure line seeds and have experimented with over 40 varieties of heritage rice from across India at our farm. After months of to and fro through conversations on email and WhatsApp with a Manipuri farmer, we’ve been able to procure the sweet, slightly nutty flavoured, aromatic black rice seeds from Manipur known as Chak Hao Poreiton.

This journey has been a learning curve for us – the conversations with fellow farmers, women who work in the fields, chefs and consumers – each day, we come into work excited!
